Over the summer of 2018, I was involved in the design and assembly of some partition doors. These doors serve as a separation between a computer lab and student operated laser cutters at Unitec.
Part of the requirement for these doors, was to demonstrate the digital fabrication capabilities of the CNC router. The constructed design has a pattern of triangle that fluidly vary in size across the doors. To be able to generate this pattern, I utilised the Grasshopper algorithmic modelling tool. Digitally fabricating this design on the CNC router was key to this project’s success.
